About Rosicrucian Order AMORC

The Ancient and Mystical Order Rosae Crucis (AMORC), also called Rosicrucian Order, is a worldwide mystical, Rosicrucian, educational, humanitarian and fraternal organisation. Members are known as students. The AMORC association was founded by H. Spencer Lewis, 1915 in New York to support and organize the activities of a legendary Rose-Croix Order. The headquarters moved to San Jose in 1927. It is the largest Rosicrucian organization operating in North America and Europe. Modern Rosicrucian Groups

During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, various groups called themselves Rosicrucian. Almost all of them claimed to be authentic heirs to a historical Rosicrucian tradition. The largest and most successful Rosicrucian organization was the Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis (AMORC), it was founded by H. Spence Lewis and located in large headquarters in San Jose. The group called the Rosicrucian Fellowship was founded by the Dane Carl Louis von Grasshof 1909-1912. Rosicrucian Fellowship is said to be inspired by the Rosicrucians, so hence the name fellowship. Fraternitas Rosae Crucis (FRC) was founded in 1912 by Reuben Swinburne Clymer. Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA) was founded around 1860 by the freemason R.W. Little. He claimed to have encountered some Rosicrucian documents deriving from the authentic Rosicrucian order. Other various groups include the, Confraternity of the Rose Cross (CR+C), the Rosicrucian Order Crotona Fellowship, Societas Rosicruciana, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Lectorium Rosicrucianum (LR), Order of the temple of the Rosy Cross (OTRC), Societas Rosicruciana in Civitatibus Foederatis (SRICF), Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO) and others as well.

The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn

The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn was a magical fraternity founded in Great Britain during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which practiced theurgy and spiritual development. It was the most influential occult group to emerge from the end of the nineteenth century occult revival. The order of the was created by Dr. William R. Woodman, William W. Westcott, and Samuel L. MacGregor Mathers. All three were Freemasons and members of Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (S.R.I.A.). Their menbers were initiated through a series of degrees (hierarchy of eleven degrees) using Freemasonic techniques applied through Hermetic and occult symbolism and doctrines. Magical practices were reserved only for the Inner Order. The teachings were diverse, and included Ceremonial Magic, Kabbalah, alchemy, Tarot, Enochian Magic, astrology, divination and Egyptian Magic. As a secret society the organization's membership included some of the most distinguished and talented personalities of the times. William Yeats, and Aleister Crowly are two most famous members of the group. The fundamental documents of the order are known as the Cipher Documents. The basic structure of many rituals of the order appear to originate with Rosicrucianism.

The Rosicrucian Order

The Rosicrucianism is a secret society of mystics dating from the 15th or 17th century. Their members are devoted to the study of ancient mystical, philosophical, and religious doctrines and concerned with the application of these doctrines to modern life. The symbol of the Rosicrucians is the Rose Cross, which is also found in certain rituals beyond "Craft" or "Blue Lodge" Freemasonry. They are claiming that its hidden knowledge goes back through secret doctrines of Jesus Christ and Pythagoras to the ancient gnosis of an Egyptian Pharoah. In 17th century, the Rosicrucians were rumored to have accomplished the transmutation of metals, the means of prolonging life, the knowledge to see and to hear what is occurring in distant places, and the ability to detect secret and hidden objects. The Rosicrucian greeting is, "May the Roses bloom upon your Cross."
